La spiaggia cosmopolita di Sifnos
Platis Gialos è la spiaggia più frequentata e organizzata di Sifnos. Il suo nome significa “ampia riva”, poiché il litorale è lungo e spazioso, offrendo comfort a ogni visitatore.
Punti di interesse e monumenti storici
A nord-est di Platis Gialos si trova Aspros Pyrgos, una delle 55 torri antiche di Sifnos. Anche se non è visitabile all’interno, resta un importante punto di riferimento storico dell’isola.
All’ingresso della baia sorge l’isolotto disabitato di Kitriani, che ospita un solo edificio: la chiesa di Panagia Kiprianou (X-XI secolo), la più antica di Sifnos, un luogo sacro e silenzioso che si distingue nel paesaggio.
Lungo la strada che conduce a Platis Gialos, una deviazione porta a Panagia tou Vounou (1813). È una delle chiese più antiche e belle di Sifnos, costruita in una posizione con vista mozzafiato sul mare. Il cortile, ombreggiato da pini, offre un piacevole ristoro, mentre la terrazza inferiore sembra un balcone sull’Egeo, affacciato su Kitriani e sulla baia di Platis Gialos. In estate qui si svolgono eventi culturali e musicali — se ne capita uno durante la tua visita, non perdertelo!

Platis Gialos è una delle più grandi spiagge sabbiose di Sifnos, con opzioni per ogni tipo di viaggiatore:

La spiaggia riceve ogni anno la Bandiera Blu dell’Unione Europea per la pulizia delle acque e la qualità dei servizi.

Per gli amanti del trekking, parte da qui un sentiero che porta alla spiaggia di Fykiada, una magnifica baia sabbiosa accessibile solo a piedi o in barca. Lungo il percorso potrai fare il bagno in calette tranquille e isolate.
